Commander, Navy Region Europe; Fleet and Family Readiness Program; MWR, Souda Bay, Greece

Note: The NATO Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) between Greece and the United States prohibits the hiring of any person who holds Greek citizenship and is considered a Dual National by the Greek Government into any U.S. position.  Those U.S. citizens who are considered “ordinarily resident” in Greece are also ineligible for employment by U.S. commands and activities in Greece. INTRODUCTION

This position is located at U.S. Navy Region, Europe, Africa & Southwest Asia; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, NSA Souda Bay,

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Drives one or more types of vehicles, such as sedans, jeeps, station wagons, panel trucks, pickup trucks, flatbed trucks, which typically have a gross vehicle weight up to 10,000 pounds, under limited traffic conditions at low speeds. Vehicles are driven on the basis of either specific trip assignments or regularly established schedules and standard routes to transport personnel, supplies, materials, or equipment and tools. 

Ensures passenger safety rules and regulations are followed.  Ensures cargo is protected from weather and is properly distributed and secured to prevent damage or loss during transit. May load and unload vehicles by hand.  Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing vehicles. Completes trip tickets and preventive maintenance records. 

Performs other related duties as required. Adapts programs to meet patron needs within financial personnel and other resource constraint.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a minimum of six months of general experience.  General experience is experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the above stated duties.  

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

Basic skill in manipulating the controls of driving vehicles.

Knowledge of the height, width, length, and weight of the vehicle in order to operate the vehicles safely on short runs, following prescribed routes.

Knowledge of installation and off-base traffic rules and regulations, and skill to read and understand  maps and other locator documents for finding various buildings and facilities.

Knowledge and skill to load and arrange cargo properly onto vehicle to prevent damage to material. 

Knowledge to recognize developing maintenance problems when conducting an inspection of the vehicles and to report technical problems to the supervisor. 

A valid US State Driver's license is required. Applicant must be able to obtain a USAFE driver’s license.
